Fundamentals of our Tech

2D TO 3D Transformation

The only way to increase the surface area of a 2-D object is to increase its radius. If you transform that object into a 3-D object, the radius can remain the same, but as the height increases, the lateral surface area increases.

Energy Conversion

The increase in lateral surface area results in the capture of more sunlight. To convert that increased surface area into energy, we can fill that increased surface area with solar panels or use optics (reflectors and lenses), to concentrate light unto smaller solar panels.

Vertical Scaling

The 3-dimensional design allows us to keep the base area the same, while scaling the vertical height of the tower. This results in a high power density, as the height of the tower now determines the power output of the system. The towers are therefore not limited to the 2-dimensional space available.

Sun Tracking

The towers are either single axis or dual axis trackers. This feature allows the towers to stay at an optimal incidence angle to the sun’s rays at all times, resulting in a superior power and energy output profile.
